Flickerama is a festival that combines the muck and fun of a music festival with the culture and sophistication of the big screen. Much like at a music festival there will be various stages – or in this case tents with screens – from which you can choose the movies you want to watch. Screens at previous festivals include the Marquee Screen, a horror screen and and Arena screen.

Deaf Film & Arts Festival – Deaffest

Deaffest is the UKs foremost film festival for deaf people in the UK, it takes place annually in Wolverhampton. For some of the films the deaf and hearing impaired audience are supported in their enjoyment of the films by signers. Other films include deaf characters or are about deafness so the audience can understand the interactions and engage with the movie. The 2017 Deaffest took place in July and included an awards ceremony with categories including young film director, best actor, best actress and best screenwriter.

Black Bird Film Festival

The Black Bird Film Festival is an annual charity event for film buffs in Wolverhampton and around the West Midlands. Tickets for the this year’s event can be bought on Eventbrite with all proceeds donated to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, a charity in the name of a 20 year old girl who was murdered in 2007.
